AED: Adaptive Energy-Efficient Data Transmission Scheme for Heart Disease Detection

Abstract: This paper proposes an Adaptive Energy-efficient Data transmission (AED) scheme designed for next-generation wearable health monitoring systems with limited power resources. The scheme integrates physical activity awareness with data transmission strategies to reduce unnecessary communication while maintaining reliable detection of critical cardiac events, including myocardial infarction. By selectively transmitting sensor data based on detected activity and health conditions, AED significantly lowers energy consumption without compromising patient safety. Simulation results demonstrate a reduction in data transmissions of 71.35% for continuous transmission and 30.33% for batch transmission, highlighting the scheme’s effectiveness in prolonging wearable device lifetime while supporting timely heart disease detection.
