Abstract: This paper investigates commercial applications built on top of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) architectures by proposing a context-aware online charging system for mobile users. The system integrates six core modules—data collection, context recognition, data transmission and reception, promotion rule triggering, service delivery, and promotion rule updating—to dynamically infer user context from smartphone data. When a predefined context-based charging event is detected, the system instantly delivers corresponding services through the SDN/NFV infrastructure. The proposed approach demonstrates how next-generation network architectures can support flexible, real-time, and intelligent charging mechanisms in 5G and future IoT environments.
